Dale Murphy drove in 109 runs and topped hitters with significant playing time by hitting .281. Phil Niekro led the team with 17 wins, and Steve Bedrosian registered a 2.42 earned run average, leading regularly-used pitchers.

Joe Torre coached the team. The 1982 Atlanta Braves qualified for the playoffs as a division winner.
