George Bell drove in 104 runs and topped all qualifying hitters on the roster by hitting .297. Dave Stieb led the team with 17 wins, and John Cerutti recorded a 3.07 ERA, best among regularly-used pitchers.

Jimy Williams and Cito Gaston coached the team. The 1989 Toronto Blue Jays qualified for the playoffs as a division winner.
