The Mets topped the league with 703 runs, fueled by 152 home runs. New York allowed 532 runs, least in the league. Darryl Strawberry walloped 39 home runs for the squad, while Howard Johnson and Kevin McReynolds added 20 or more also. Darryl Strawberry recorded 101 runs batted in. Kevin McReynolds paced hitters with significant playing time with a .288 average. David Cone led the squad with 20 wins, and Ron Darling and Dwight Gooden contributed 15 or more victories as well David Cone recorded a 2.22 ERA, best among regularly-used pitchers.
