The defense proved to be a force, as the Bears paced the league with just 215 points allowed. Chicago scored 312 points. Neal Anderson rushed for a team-leading 1,106 yards.

Jim McMahon threw for 1,346 yards, and Mike Tomczak played quarterback, too. Dennis McKinnon topped all receivers, hauling in 45 balls for 704 yards. Neal Anderson was targeted regularly also.

Vestee Jackson intercepted 8 opponent throws. Steve McMichael led pass rushers with 11.5 quarterback sacks, part of an overall team total of 43 sacks.

Mike Ditka coached the team. The 1988 Chicago Bears lost in the Conference Championship.
