The Cincinnati Stingers of the World Hockey Association ended the 1976-77 season with a record of 39 wins and 37 losses and 5 ties for 83 points, finishing second in the WHA's WHA East Division. The team compiled a postseason mark of 0-4.

The Stingers scored 354 goals and surrendered 303. Rich LeDuc and Blaine Stoughton netted 52 goals for Cincinnati each, while Rick Dudley, Claude Larose and Dennis Sobchuk each tallied 30 or more also. Ron Plumb recorded 58 assists. Normand Lapointe topped the squad with 21 wins and a team-best 3.73 goals against average, pacing regularly-used goaltenders.

Terry Slater coached the team. The 1976-77 Cincinnati Stingers lost in the AVCO Cup quarter-finals.
